Channels and methods for purchasing recycled plastics

Source:     Time: 2024-06-27

With the continuous development of plastic recycling technology, recycled plastics are increasingly recognized by the market, but the quality of recycled materials on the market varies, and the standards are different. If you are not careful, you may spend a lot of money to buy inferior products. For this reason, recycled plastic buyers usually spend a lot of effort to identify high-quality suppliers and buy suitable recycled materials.

         Recycled Plastic Grades

◆First-level materials are processed from the scraps left over during the use of raw materials. Some are of good quality such as nozzle materials and rubber head materials, and some are raw materials that do not meet the quality standards. The particles refined and processed from these raw materials are comparable to new materials, so they are first-class materials.

◆Secondary materials refer to recycled materials after the raw materials have been used once. For example, some industrial films have not been exposed to wind and sun, and the quality is relatively intact. The processed particles have good transparency. The quality of the second-class recycled materials can be judged by carefully observing the brightness and roughness of the particles.

◆Third-class materials refer to recycled materials after the raw materials have been used twice or more. Recycled materials that have been used many times are not very good in terms of elasticity and toughness, and are usually only used for injection molding, while the first and second grade materials can be used for film blowing, wire drawing and other process purposes.

        Identification method of recycled plastics

◆ Smoothness. It is an important indicator to measure the quality grade of recycled material particles. High-quality recycled materials are smooth and lubricated.

◆ Transparency. It is an important indicator for measuring the quality grade of medium and high-end recycled materials. Transparent materials are usually of better quality.

◆Color uniformity. It is an important indicator for measuring the quality grade of colored recycled materials. The quality is better if the color is uniform.

◆Compactness. It is an important indicator for testing the level of recycling technology. Poor plasticization and loose particles are inferior materials.

◆Floating and sinking degree. Whether it floats or sinks in water is used to test the filler content of PP and PE particles. For different process uses, buyers often choose according to process needs.

        Recycled plastic category

◆Recycled PET. Often bottle products, such as beverage bottles, mineral water bottles, etc., mainly used for chemical fiber, injection molding, etc.

◆Recycled PE. Commonly used in handbags, oil drums, beverage bottles, water pipes and daily necessities. High pressure and linear types are often used in industrial films, agricultural films, convenient bags, etc. Low pressure is used for injection molding and hollow packaging.

◆Recycled PP. Commonly used in barrels, basins, bottle caps, woven bags, non-woven fabrics, car bumpers, films, furniture, etc. The main process uses are wire drawing, injection molding, and blow molding.

◆Recycled PS. Commonly used in stationery, toys, cups, food containers, electrical accessories, home appliance shells, and foaming packaging materials. The main process uses are injection molding, foaming, and blistering.

◆Recycled PVC. Commonly used in plates, pipes, doors and windows, wire sheaths, shoe soles, toys, stationery, motorcycle accessories, medical supplies, etc. The main process use is injection molding.

Selection of high-quality suppliers of recycled plastics

Finding a suitable supplier solves half of the procurement problem. Recycled plastic buyers often obtain supplier information through exhibitions, bidding, official websites, industry websites and other channels, and usually screen suppliers based on their reputation, qualifications, production capacity, delivery capacity, technical support, price and other factors. Among them, the most trusted and commonly used channels for buyers are exhibitions and related information provided by exhibitions.
