ROCOL packaging barrels are made of 30% recycled plastic

Industrial products manufacturer ROCOL has updated the packaging for its SCRUBS cleaning products, now in a striking blue color and with a tub made from 30% recycled plastic.

The SCRUBS wipes and cleaning fluid themselves have not changed, the company says, and remain "waterproof, functional, durable and easy to transport." Apparently, SCRUBS wipes can be used to deep clean hands, tools and machine parts, and can also remove grease, oil, adhesives, tar, ink and paint, without the need for water.

The updated barrel features a new “eye-catching blue” and is designed with a dual texture, with a frosted side on one side to remove stubborn stains without damaging the surface. ROCOL says this makes it particularly suitable for practitioners in the construction, automotive and manufacturing industries. ROCOL says it also fits in with parent company ITW Fluids’ broader product range, aiming to increase brand awareness and influence. The updated label design strives to show a modern aesthetic with a strong visual impact.

Dr. Lisa Iarho1t, Product Manager for ITW Industrial Solutions Germany, said: "The new packaging marks an important step for SCRUBS in terms of environmental protection, and the brand will continue to do so. As a product commonly used by professionals in many industries, it was important to modernize the packaging in line with our values while maintaining the ultra-cleaning wipes."

Last year, ITW switched its SCRUBS Wet-Medium range in barrels to recyclable recycled plastic packaging to avoid paying the single-use plastic tax. The wipes are said to be NSFE4 certified for use in the food and beverage industry and for machine cleaning around food production lines.

In related news, Australian brand Conserving Beauty recently revealed it will use Futamra’s renewable and compostable Naturer1ex film in its facial cleansing wipes packaging. Futamra claims the film has “excellent barrier properties” to aromas, gases and moisture, and that the new laminate structure works well on pouch production lines, with a moisture barrier protecting the product prior to use.
