Avant launches PET toner and colorant production without discoloration due to recycling

        As people pay more and more attention to sustainable development, more and more food and beverage manufacturers and brand owners around the world, including Asia, prefer to use recycled PET (r-PET) to enhance the recycling and reuse of plastic packaging and promote the development of a circular economy.

        Compared with traditional food and beverage packaging, PET / r-PET materials have a series of advantages such as large capacity, lightness, firmness, refrigeration, and transparent and beautiful appearance. However, PET materials need to undergo multiple thermal cycles during continuous recycling and reuse. Over time, they will degrade, causing the color of rPET materials to turn yellow or discolor, performance changes, and processing efficiency to gradually decline. How to make the material both aesthetic and efficient has become a major problem.

        In response to the color change of materials during the recycling process, Avant launched ColorMatrix™ Optica™ PET colorants and colorants. When added to PET preforms or r-PET production, it can correct the yellowing or discoloration of the product during the recycling process, thereby achieving neutral or blue packaging with improved quality and performance.

        Avant ColorMatrix™ Optica™ PET toners and colorants can be used in combination with ColorMatrix™ SmartHeat™ series technology to improve the mechanical strength of bottles during production using r-PET materials, thereby reducing product downtime, bursting and scrap rates, and further reducing energy consumption during the bottle blowing process.
