        Belkin, a California-based mobile phone and computer accessories manufacturer, announced that on the occasion of its 40th anniversary, it will increase its use of environmentally friendly materials. Its best-selling wireless chargers, power banks, wall chargers and car chargers will use 73%-75% post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) and plastic-free packaging.

         Belkin said that these products using PCR materials will be available in early 2023 and are expected to reduce carbon emissions by 67% (about 7,000 tons of carbon emissions). The company said that this move will help it achieve 100% carbon neutrality in scope 1 and scope 2 by 2025. Belkin will also reduce single-use plastics in its packaging, and expects to reduce plastic usage by 90%.

        According to reports, the first batch of Belkin products using PCR materials in 2023 include:

         ◆10W Boost Charge magnetic wireless car charger;

        ◆25W Boost Charge USB-C PD 3.0 PPS wall charger;

        ◆40W Boost Charge Dual USB-C PD Wall Charger;

        ◆108W Boost Charge Pro 4-port GaN Charger;

        ◆45W Boost Charge Pro Dual USB-C GaN Wall Charger;

        ◆65W Boost Charge Pro Dual USB-C with PPS GaN wall charger.

        “When we think about the impact a company of our size and influence can have on the planet, reducing our use of virgin plastic is a smart decision. I’m proud to be working with a team that shares this vision as we move toward a more sustainable future,” said Steve Malony, CEO of Belkin.

        Belkin said there will be little difference in aesthetics and design between its existing products and new products using PCR. It added that consumers will be able to distinguish the new PCR products through clear labeling on packaging and product pages.
