Henkel launches framework for sustainable development goals

Source:     Time: 2022-03-29

Recently, Henkel released the "Sustainability Report", introducing its achievements and progress in the field of sustainable development in 2021, and announced the new "2030+ Sustainable Development Goal Framework."

The "Report" shows that in 2021, Henkel implemented a sustainable development strategy in business development, reduced carbon dioxide emissions through green power conversion and other measures in the production process, and made further progress in sustainable raw material procurement and sustainable finance. By the end of 2021, Henkel had reduced its carbon dioxide footprint in its production process by 50% and achieved 100% renewable energy power supply in 21 countries. Today, Henkel's use of renewable energy power has reached 68%.

The newly released Henkel "2030+ Sustainable Development Goal Framework" includes three aspects. The first is to regenerate the planet: support science and innovation, promote business, product and raw material transformation, and achieve a circular economy and a zero-carbon future. The second is to prosper the community: by leveraging the collective power of companies and brands to promote equality, education and social welfare, and help people live a better life. The third is to become a trusted partner: through a corporate culture based on values, deep science and passion for technology, drive performance and system change with integrity.

Carsten Knobel, CEO of Henkel, said: "Sustainability is deeply rooted in Henkel's genes and is an integral part of the company's development. As important as innovation and digitalization strategies, sustainability is at the core of Henkel's strategic agenda for targeted growth. Driven by the ambitious sustainability strategy, Henkel will accelerate its transformation and make the company's business portfolio and operating processes more powerfully develop in a sustainable direction."
