Greif Releases 2030 Sustainability Goals

Source:     Time: 2022-12-28

Delaware, Ohio-based industrial packaging producer Greif has announced new sustainability goals that reinforce its commitment to building a more sustainable and equitable future. Greif announced in 2021 that it aims to reduce scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 28% by the end of the decade, and Greif said its new sustainability goals set specific and measurable targets to build on previous announcements.

Greif believes that its broader sustainability focus continues to be advancing the circular economy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and championing diversity, equity and inclusion. The five goals announced in the company's latest sustainability efforts include:

        1. By 2030, 97% of its production facilities will achieve zero landfill waste.

        2. Make its products 100% recyclable, determine recyclability targets based on weight, and integrate them at the company level.

        3. Achieve an average recycled content of 60% across products.

        4. Achieve global gender pay parity, a goal that is expected to be achieved by 2024.

        5. Evaluate the sustainability performance of 80% of supplier spending, which Greif said will have a greater impact on the entire value chain.

“These 2030 goals reflect our efforts as a global company to build a more sustainable future for our people and our planet,” said Ole Rosgaard, president and CEO of Greif. “Together, they set a roadmap for success for our customers, colleagues and the communities where we operate and serve.”
