Recently, the sustainable gardening tool SEALOVE was launched by the Italian company EPOCA S.p.A. The tool body is made of 100% Akulon® RePurposed, a multifunctional, high-performance polyamide made from recycled fishing nets. The tool body includes a wide spatula, a rice transplanter fan rake, a hoe and two sizes of leaf rakes.
Enyeli collects abandoned fishing nets thrown into the ocean, uses a proprietary process to sort, clean and crush them, and creates raw materials for PA6. The raw material Akulon® RePurposed is a polymer with excellent balance of performance and mechanical properties. Compared with Enyeli's RE (unfilled) grade, the recycled marine waste plastic content in this material is not less than 80%, and this series of products have obtained UL2809 certification.
SEALOVE, part of EPOCA’s LOVELIFE collection, is made from post-consumer plastic to help enable more sustainable production and activities. The final SEALOVE gardening product is a glass-fiber reinforced recycled polyamide with excellent functional properties. EPOCA plans to offer SEALOVE sustainable gardening tools worldwide.
Since 2010, EPOCA has been committed to using post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, with the goal of using 50% of its gardening collections by 2030. Loek Ribberink, Global Business Director at Enyeli, said: "EPOCA shares our commitment to developing sustainable and recycling-based solutions to help consumers make more environmentally conscious choices in their daily lives, and together we will continue to provide sustainable and scalable solutions. We hope that EPOCA's choice of Akulon® RePurposed, based on recycled ocean fishing nets, will inspire many others to take similar steps to make our planet a better place.
