Berry International launches recyclable PE film

Source:     Time: 2024-01-15

Berry Global has launched an upgraded version of the film used to preserve fresh food, Omni extra polyethylene film, which has excellent mechanical properties, can reduce weight and is recyclable. This recyclable PE film is expected to become a substitute for traditional PVC film.

        Excellent mechanical properties

It is understood that the old version of Omni extra film is designed to preserve fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry, cooked food and baked products. Now, Berry International has improved Omniextra film to provide a uniform film draw ratio, and improve impact resistance and elasticity. Compared with traditional PVC, this Omni extra recyclable PE film not only has improved mechanical properties, but is also thinner, more transparent, and has zero-proof properties to ensure that products remain attractive on the shelf. In addition, the overall weight can be reduced by more than 25%.

        Recyclable certification

The new Omni extra film is a recyclable PE film, certified by RecyClass and Interseroh. Berry also noted that the film complies with EU packaging and packaging waste regulations. Benjamin Hendriks, R&D manager at Berry Global Flexible Films, said: "Our new Omni extra film is a significant technological advancement over previous versions, with major improvements in usability and clarity, while reducing packaging weight and increasing production. In addition, its enhanced performance and appearance provide customers with effective product protection and maximum shelf appeal, while meeting consumer demand for more sustainable packaging formats and helping companies achieve their own sustainability goals, especially avoiding the use of difficult-to-recycle PVC films.
