Lenovo Group (HK 00992) officially released its ESG report for the fiscal year 2023/24. The report shows that Lenovo Group's use of ocean plastics has expanded to some desktops/all-in-one computers, consumer notebooks and server products. It is expected to use 165 tons of ocean plastics (plastics recycled from marine plastic waste) each year, which is equivalent to recycling about 9 million plastic water bottles.

The cumulative use of recycled plastics exceeds 140,000 tons

It is reported that Lenovo Group attaches great importance to the promotion and use of environmentally friendly materials in its products, and constantly innovates the types of environmentally friendly materials. Since the beginning of 2005, the total gross weight of recycled plastics containing industrial recycled plastics, post-consumer recycled plastics and closed-loop post-consumer recycled plastics used in Lenovo Group products has exceeded 140,000 tons, and the use of closed-loop post-consumer recycled plastics has expanded to 315 products.

Lenovo Group revealed that it has further expanded the use of recycled aluminum and recycled magnesium to more ThinkPad products and all-in-one products, and introduced post-consumer recycled rare earth metals, recycled steel and recycled copper in its products.

In addition, Lenovo Group continues to be committed to achieving plastic-free packaging through the application of sustainable materials and the upgrading of packaging design. Lenovo Group said that since 2008, it has reduced the use of packaging materials by 4,809 tons, and in the 2023/24 fiscal year alone, it has reduced the use of packaging materials by 672 tons. Currently, Lenovo Group's plastic-free packaging has been expanded to the entire ThinkPad series (except the E series) and some smartphones, reducing the use of packaging plastics by 548 tons.
