Hexpol TPE launches TPE products based on recycled marine waste

Source:     Time: 2022-06-06

Hexpol TPE launches TPE products based on recycled marine debris, enabling waste fishing nets, trawl nets and ropes that would previously have been discarded in the environment to be mechanically recycled into high-grade, virgin-like raw materials.

Jill Bradford, Global Market Manager at Hexpol TPE, said: “We are continually investigating new sources of recycling to support the transition from virgin materials. Repurposing something that would otherwise be waste, giving it new life, helps keep valuable materials in circulation. What attracted us to work with Plastix was the control and quality of their products, and the fact that they work based on certifications. They have carried out life cycle assessments to provide data on the carbon footprint of their products.”

Hexpol TPE has now launched a new range of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) materials containing recycled content from post-use marine ropes.

The newest member of the Dryflex Circular TPE portfolio, Dryflex Circular MWR TPE is available in Shore A to Shore D durometers, with 10% to 60% recycled content, and in black, blue, green and mint. The Dryflex Circular TPE portfolio also offers customized materials containing PCR (post-consumer) and PIR (post-industrial) recyclates. Dryflex Circular TPEs can be recycled in closed-loop systems.
