Innovative label-free packaging enables a new green and low-carbon model

Innova Global New Product Database shows that the release rate of new food and beverage products with environmental protection claims is three times that of the entire industry. In order to comply with the environmental protection demands of consumers, the food and beverage industry is taking positive actions. After Master Kong Ice Tea and Pepsi launched "unlabeled" bottles in China, many beverage brands also began to "tear off" labels and sell beverage bottles "naked".

        Pulse: "Smart Carbon" Label-free Packaging

This month, Danone's brand Pulse and innovation company Lanzatech launched the "Smart Carbon" packaging. This packaging is torn off the label and appears in front of the public with a gradient blue bottle. It is worth noting that the bottle is also printed with the embossed words "Made From CO2" to emphasize the source of "Smart Carbon".

It is understood that Lanzatech uses "carbon capture" technology to directly convert carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in carbon-rich gas sources into key raw materials for producing PET bottles through microorganisms, thereby reducing the use of oil and the impact of carbon emissions on the environment.

Amul: The first "ink reduction package" in the domestic dairy industry

Also in June, Amul officially announced the launch of the "ink reduction package", becoming the first brand in the domestic dairy industry to invest in "ink reduction package". According to the brand, compared with conventional products, the diamond packaging and crown packaging of the "ink reduction package" reduce 3 and 4 colors respectively in printing, saving about 80% and 70% of the ink. In addition, the product outer box adopts a colorless embossing process to reduce the use of ink, and also abandons the plastic handle to reduce the use of plastic.

The pure white bottle with large blue fonts makes the brand and the text on the bottle very eye-catching. Currently, the "Reduced Ink Pack" product is available online at the Tmall Amul flagship store.

Jindian: New packaging without printing and ink

On June 5, "World Environment Day", Jindian's new packaging without printing and ink can be said to lead the industry innovation. The original ink printing on the bottle is removed from the product packaging (meaning that except for the necessary content on the Tetra Pak factory packaging materials, the Jindian brand does not use additional ink printing content), and the product name and production date and other information are printed using laser technology, so it can directly reduce the use of materials and energy. In addition, this packaging uses the industry's first plant-based dream cover, part of which comes from sugarcane. While maintaining appearance and function, it can reduce carbon footprint and reduce dependence on fossil resources.

It is understood that this is the first time that the dairy industry has launched a "no printing and no ink" environmentally friendly new packaging. It is another new attempt by Jindian to implement carbon reduction and environmental protection goals at the product level, and explores a new path for environmental protection and carbon reduction in the dairy industry.

Dongpeng: The first electronic label functional beverage

Dongpeng Special Drink, a well-known domestic functional beverage brand, also complies with the "no label" trend in the beverage industry, revealing a pentagonal bottle body that matches the color of the beverage itself. Dongpeng did not use laser to print product information on the bottle, but directly printed the "electronic label" on the bottle cap, using digitalization to empower a new low-carbon model. Consumers can see product information by scanning the code.

It is reported that this is the first functional beverage in China to use electronic labels.

Taking advantage of the low-carbon and environmentally friendly trend, beverage brand companies tear off the "label" and "run naked" against the wind. "No label" may become a new consumption trend in the future. However, how to combine beauty and design sense, and have high brand recognition, has become the focus of the company's next step.
