r-PET food grade application accelerated

        According to Fact.MR, as consumer preference for sustainable and recyclable products continues to grow, the global recycled PET market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8% to a total of US$4.2 billion by the end of 2031. Recently, global food and beverage giants such as Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have accelerated the application of r-PET and continued to expand their global market layout of 100% r-PET bottles.

        So far, Coca-Cola has provided 100% r-PET bottles in more than 25 markets around the world, which is one step closer to its goal of "zero waste in the world". Recently, Coca-Cola has launched 100% r-PET bottles in Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Middle East.

 

        Suntory PepsiCo: Thailand’s first company to use full r-PET beverage bottles

        In May this year, PepsiCo® Beverages of Suntory PepsiCo Beverages (Thailand) Co., Ltd. partnered with Chulalongkorn University (PMCU) and ENVICCO Limited to launch the “PepsiCo Recycled PET Bottle Campaign” and announced that PepsiCo will become “the first company in the Thai soft drink market to use 100% rPET bottles for beverage packaging.” In addition to Thailand in Southeast Asia, PepsiCo has launched rPET bottles in South Africa and Bangladesh, and will launch rPET bottles in Egypt, Qatar and Pakistan by the end of this year. It is reported that PepsiCo continues to promote policies with the goal of launching recycled plastic bottles in 10 countries in AMESA (Africa, the Middle East and South Asia) by 2023.

 

        Fiji Water: 65% of bottled water will use recycled materials

        Fiji Water announced that its 330ml-500ml packaging has transitioned to 100% post-consumer recycled r-PET bottles. The packaging has been launched in the United States. Fiji Water Company said that 65% of its bottled water will be produced using recycled materials. Switching to r-PET will not only reduce plastic waste, but also reduce CO2 emissions during the production process. According to the company, some studies have shown that r-PET can reduce carbon emissions by up to 79% compared to virgin plastic.
