Recently, BYD signed an order for 30 pure electric buses with Nobina, the largest bus operator in Northern Europe. The vehicles are scheduled to be delivered by the end of 2022 and put into operation in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. This is the third time that BYD has joined hands with Nobina Finland to promote the electrification of zero-emission buses in the Nordic region, following the construction of the largest electric bus fleet in Finnish history for Nobina last year.
It is reported that the new order includes 15 13-meter and 15 15-meter pure electric buses. Both models use a new generation of lithium iron phosphate batteries, and their endurance fully meets the operational needs in the Nordic region. In order to further improve the aesthetics and safety, the interior and exterior decoration of the bus adopts new process materials, which fully reflects the brand's environmental protection concept.
Petri Auno, General Manager of Nobina Group Finland, said: "Thanks to BYD for providing zero-emission transportation solutions. We will continue to work with BYD to promote the sustainable development of green transportation."
He Yipeng, General Manager of Commercial Vehicle Business Center of BYD Europe Co., Ltd., said: "We are very pleased to maintain a solid cooperative relationship with Nobina. We believe that BYD's zero-emission pure electric buses will accelerate the development of electric transportation in the Nordic region."
In 2020, BYD also delivered a fleet of pure electric buses to the Dutch branch of Keolis, a European public transport operator. The order totals 259 buses, with the first batch of 246 buses put into operation in the IJssel-Wijt region of the country. The routes cover the eastern and central regions of the Netherlands, running through cities such as Zwolle, Apeldoorn and Ede. The remaining 13 buses are scheduled to be put into operation in the spring of 2021. The fleet has effectively improved local air quality and can help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 15,000 tons per year.
