It has currently obtained a no-objection letter from the FDA, confirming that the r-PP produced by CleanStream™ technology can be as high as 100% recycled food packaging application level.

Amcor Rigid Packaging (ARP) and Ron Rubin Winery have collaborated to develop a 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate (r-PET) wine bottle with a screw cap that features a high-barrier coating of silicon oxide (SiOx).

SABIC, along with BASF, Covestro, Dow Chemical, LyondellBasell, Mitsubishi Chemical and Solvay, has signed an agreement with the renowned Dutch innovation organization TNO, which will host the new plastic recycling R&D center and execute R&D projects, with the first projects to start in the second half of 2023.

On July 13, 2023, the European Commission published a proposal for a regulation on End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV). In line with the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan, the ELV proposal is based on and will replace two existing directives: Directive 2000/53/EC and 2005/64/EC on end-of-life vehicles. The European Parliament and the Council will consider the proposal in the ordinary legislative procedure.

According to Fact.MR, as consumer preference for sustainable and recyclable products continues to grow, the global recycled PET market is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 8% to a total of US$4.2 billion by the end of 2031. Recently, global food and beverage giants such as Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have accelerated the application of r-PET and continued to expand their global market layout of 100% r-PET bottles.

ALPLA is continuing its global expansion into the circular economy with the expansion of its recycling plant in Poland. The internationally active packaging and recycling specialist is investing around EUR 8 million in a third extrusion line. Annual production capacity will increase from 30,000 to 54,000 tonnes of food-grade PET recycled material (r-PET). This makes Radomsko, Poland, one of the largest recycling plants of its kind in Europe.

The New Zealand government announced that from July 1, local time, New Zealand will prohibit shopping malls and supermarkets from providing or selling disposable plastic food bags and other products. Violators may be fined up to 100,000 New Zealand dollars, or about 440,000 yuan. This means that New Zealand supermarkets have banned all plastic bags. New Zealand's "plastic ban" has made New Zealand the first country in the world to ban the use of disposable thin plastic bags in supermarkets.

AdvanSix has developed recycled polyamide products made from 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials that complement AdvanSix's 100% post-industrial recycled (PIR) grades of polyamide. Recycled polyamides include AdvanSix Aegis PIR and PCR grade resins and Capran PIR biaxially oriented polyamide (BOPA) film.
